About us
About ShowMe
A repair company named after the one thing we think this trade is short of: evidence you can check yourself.
- What we sell
- Repairs only
- Who attends
- A technician
- First deliverable
- A fixed written price
- If replacement is right
- We say so, and decline
Origin
It started with a question nobody answered straight
Why does a sash that will not stay up come back as a quote for the whole house?
We kept watching Missouri homeowners get told their windows were finished when the actual fault was a parted cord, a keeper three millimetres out of register, or a hailstorm two springs ago that took the seals without breaking the glass. The quotes were not fraudulent. They came from companies whose business is selling replacement units, and a replacement is what those companies have to offer.
What struck us was how little of it anybody could check. A homeowner is asked to accept a diagnosis they have no way to test, from somebody with an obvious interest in the answer. In this state of all places, that seemed like the thing to fix.
So the business is built the other way round. The price list has one item on it. Every claim we make about your windows comes with a way for you to verify it. And if a repair genuinely will not hold, we say so and tell you to call somebody else — which costs us the job and is the only reason the advice means anything.
Method
Four things we hold to
One
Repair, and only repair
There is no version of this business where recommending a replacement earns us anything. That is the design, not a slogan on a van.
Two
Show, do not tell
Every service page here lists what you can check before we arrive and what we will demonstrate before we leave. A repair you cannot verify is one you have to take on faith.
Three
Name the part
Every estimate says which component failed. "Window needs work" is not a diagnosis and we will not write one.
Four
Say the unprofitable thing
Condensation on the room side is not a failed window. Defogging does not restore a seal. Planing a swollen door cannot be undone. We will tell you all three and lose the work.
People
Who turns up
A narrow trade worked every day. Our technicians handle the same systems constantly — wood sash in St Louis and Kansas City brick housing, balances through the suburban stock, aluminium sliders and out-swing doors in manufactured homes, builder-grade patio doors, and storefront closers on main streets across the state.
They arrive in a stocked van, which matters in a state with this much distance in it. A return trip across three counties for a part nobody thought to bring is a wasted day for everybody, so the diagnosis starts on the phone.
And they will show you. Before and after, with the old part in hand and the tests repeated in front of you.
